Hope of a Life

READ until the end of page 42 (chapter 10).   Focus on the plot, setting, and character development as you read.  There will be a short essay quiz on Monday, May 6th.


Character development – What do you know/learn  about Alexander and Helen?  How do they "develop" as characters? What are their traits? How effectively are new characters introduced? 

 Plot – How is tension built and created?  How does the author SHOW you what happens?  As you read, what details evoke emotions/responses in you? 

Setting -- Where does it take place? Who/what is involved?  Who matters?
